CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO THE FAMILY OF PROF. H.A. EZIKE.

Professor Ezike

On behalf of the President, the National Executive Committee Members, Members board of Trustees, Past Presidents and all Members of the Nigerian Society of Anaesthetists, we express our heartfelt condolences to the entire Ezike family and his immediate Anaesthesia family ( department of Anaesthesia, UNTH), entire body of Anaesthetists in Nigeria and beyond.

We are saddened by the news of the transition to glory of an ICON of Anaesthesia, Professor Humphrey Azubuike Ezike. He was until his death a Professor and Chief Consultant Anaesthetist at the Department of Anaesthesia UNTH Enugu. He was one of the pioneer Anaesthetists ( after late Prof. Eziashi and Dr KLA Izuora) in Enugu and the whole Eastern Region of Nigeria. As a trainer and Examiner in both West African College of Surgeons (WACS) and National Post Graduate Medical College Faculty of Anaesthesia (PgMC A), he left his footprints on the sands of time.

He contributed his quota tirelessly to the growth of the specialty in Nigeria and the entire West African Subregion. He remained at UNTH to sustain services at a time when leaving for greener pastures was the norm and touched so many lives. He was a gentle, kind and dedicated anaesthetist. He will be sorely missed by all.

We are comforted by the fact that he has left a great legacy as a pioneer Anaesthetist, devoted Teacher and Mentor of Mentors. May Almighty God strengthen, comfort and uphold us all.

Adieu Prof.

Dr Aderonke Adesiyan (FWACS)

Secretary, NSA
